I saw a penny on the sidewalk
I had seen it there before
Nobody wanted to pick it up
A penny is not worth a dime anymore.
But sometimes they can come in handy
I have needed them before
It might save breaking a dollar
Which is not worth a dime anymore.
Pennies can be turned into nickels
Just this one and another four
But if you stop and think about it
A nickel is not worth a dime anymore.
But nickels can be turned into a dime
You may need one at the store
All you need is another one
But even a dime is not worth a dime anymore.
Everything depends on how bad you need it
I've been there myself before
A quarter may be worth a dollar to you
Though it's not worth a dime anymore.
Pennies are really needed
And still accepted at every store
They would be missed if they weren't there
Though not worth a dime anymore.
I stooped down to pick it up
As I had done many times before
Another one in circulation
Though not worth a dime anymore.
Pennies come in all denominations
All bright and shiny or completely wore
They can all be worth the same
Though not worth a dime anymore.
A penny can finish a deal
And get you through the Door
They can make all the difference sometimes
Though not worth a dime anymore.
There is also power in unity
Join together for riches galore
No one can say if there is enough
They'll not worth a dime anymore.
Their value has been determined by their Maker
What does He have in store?
They can become priceless
Though not worth a dime anymore.
Kinda reminds me of people
Whose hopes have been dashed to the floor
Thown away like a bad penny
Not worth a dime anymore.
Are you one of these?
You feel tarnished to the core
God can clean you up even if you don't feel
Like you're worth a dime anymore.
Rare pennies are hard to find
They are worth a whole lot more
All pennies count for something
Scarcity makes their value more.
The value of something may be decided by man
But God thinks you're worth a whole lot more
Other people's opinions don't count for much
They're not worth a dime anymore.
Your Maker made you to be spent
Don't hold back as before
Put yourself back in circulation
A dime can't replace you anymore.
