Blast Off
by Roger Montgomery

Send another rocket to the moon
Feed catsup to the poor
Close every door that leads to peace
Prepare yourself for war.

You reap what you have sown
So rock yourself to sleep
Put another million out of work
Get this country on its feet.

There’s no conspiracy, no conspiracy
This country is doing well
Lay aside all your arms
But get ready for the kill.

Where are my barns, where are my barns
Are they still standing still
Why aren’t they torn down, torn down
When will I be able to build?

My beautiful barns, my beautiful barns
They are all ashes and heaps
I wonder who tore them down
Was it while I was asleep?

Why can’t I find the answer
Why do I sit and cry
What are these 30 pieces of silver
Can anyone tell me why?

Why is everything so hopeless
Why is there so much sin
What have I treasured up
Tell me once again.

What is this that I have
Heaps of ashes and blood on my hands
Why can’t I get rid of them
Why can’t I start again?

These are my treasures
These are the results of my plans
The salt is trampled underfoot
Everything I have is out of hand.
