Blood-Kin
by Roger Montgomery ã

I’ve been searching my past
Wondering about my kin
Wondering about my family
Wondering where we might have been.

Where did we come from
Before the present we’re living in
Wondering where we’re going
Me and my next of kin.

Wonder if there’s anyone famous
Maybe some important man
Who knows who I’m related to
Wonder who’s my next of kin.

I’ve wondered about God
His dealing with men
Wonder if He thinks it’s important
That we find our blood-kin.

I’ve been checking my families past
Not much to show for my past, but then
I found out I’m kin to royalty
I’ve discover Jesus and I, we’re blood-kin.

They say God came to earth
Came down to be a mortal man
And He claims He knows me by heart
He and I are blood-kin.

I’ve read in the Bible about Jesus
He was a God man
He surprised the people of His day
And to my surprise, we’re blood-kin

Jesus was born 2,000 years ago
Into this world we’re living in
We have the same Father
So we must be blood-kin.

If we have the same Father
You might say I’m His brother then
If He is my brother
Then we must be blood-kin.

Jesus talks to me
Hey, there’s a book written about Him
He’s kinda famous you know
And hey, we’re blood-kin.

Spiritual breakthroughs may seem confusing
At least to a natural man
How can someone born 2,000 years ago
Be a brother, blood-kin.

I have a lot of brothers
In this world I’m living in
I’ve been studying my bloodline
And they’re all my blood-kin.

Hey, why don’t you check your past
You may be in for a surprise then
We may have a lot in common
Who knows, we may be blood-kin.
