Broken
by Roger Montgomery ã

I have a broken watch
But I hate to throw it away
Because it’s right on time
At least twice a day.

I have a pair of shoes
I wear them every day
The soles are gone on one
But the shoestrings are still okay.

My roof is needing fixing
But it’s not raining today
It seems to be holding up
I guess it will be okay.

I have a car that won’t run
The final payment has been made
But the tires are wearing so good
I can’t see hauling it away.

I have my own religion
I don’t hardly have to pray
And it’s so easy to live
I don’t offend anyone this way.

It doesn’t cost anything
The rules change nearly every day
I would explain it to you
But there’s not really much to say.

My religion doesn’t cost much
It’s worth at least what I’ve paid
Wonder what God thinks it’s worth
I guess He will tell me one day.

Well, I guess I will go and do my thing
From down here everything looks okay
I hear Jesus was crucified for you
Well, everyone to his own Way.
