By Heart
I used to memorize as a kid
Until I remembered every part
My teacher would tell me
Now memorize this by heart.
Some people learn with their minds
Some know in full, some in part
When something becomes part of you
You’ve memorized it by heart.
Some people are in a rush it seems
They get off early to a fast start
Sometimes they don’t take the time to learn
Or memorize things by heart.
Wonder if God remembers us
In His Way of thinking, are we a part?
I think it’s safe to say
Jesus remembers us all by heart.
Some people don’t seem to have
What others have already got
Some have gotten close to Jesus
For them Jesus has a heart.
He hung on the cross bleeding
His body was being torn apart
He knew why He was dying
He knew us all by heart.
They put a crown on His head
Nails in His hands, so far apart
He was showing how much He loves us
Then they put a sword in His heart.
You don’t have to tell Him your name
He’s not exactly in the dark
He’s the Light of this world, you know
And He knows each of us all by heart.
He’s coming back soon
They say it’s a one time shot
He’s coming for those who are ready
Those who’ve given Him all their heart.
Jesus takes care of His own
Do you want to be a part
Ask Him to come on in
To come into your heart.
Some people play a game
He loves me, He loves me not
This is a game Jesus doesn’t play
He loves me, He loves me a lot.
This is what we need
When we are hurting a lot
Jesus proves how much He cares
He’s already given us His own heart.
What are you doing with Him today
Are you tearing Him apart?
He has your name in His thinking
And He knows you all by heart.
You can have a part of heaven
If you’re not satisfied with what you’ve got
Then you can really start living
With Jesus living in your heart.
Is there something missing in you?
Though you may not know just what
May I suggest something to help
Come on, have a heart.
A heart that can listen to God
Peace, love, and joy just to start
You can be in heaven for all eternity
If you only have the heart.
Guess the choice is still yours
God seems to love you a lot
You can have the nature of God
If you give Jesus your own heart.
He takes care of His own
To you His peace He will impart
He will give His love to you
If you will give Him all your heart.
Jesus is still searching for you
To give you a brand new start
You may feel discouraged and even down
But come on, have a heart.
Jesus is good at giving
He finishes everything that He starts
He is searching the whole world over
Just looking for a poor lost heart.
Do you have a heart for living
In heaven, do you have a part
Come on, the door’s wide open
While Jesus is looking for a broken heart.
You may have gotten off on the wrong foot
Jesus will give you a brand new start
Everything He touches, He makes new
If you want to have it fixed, give Him your heart.
Jesus is coming back soon
It won’t be long before the church will depart
The only ones going to heaven
Will be the ones with a brand new heart.
Jesus will take you along
You don’t have to change a whole whole lot
He will come inside and make you new
If you will let Him come inside your heart.
The door to heaven is still open wide
No one has to be left out in the dark
The Light of this world has come to earth
Taken up residence in our hearts.
He will dispel all the darkness
He will not leave you in the dark
His blood will completely transform you
When He comes and enters into your heart.
Time is coming to an end as we know it
Soon the clouds will depart
Jesus has sent light down to the earth
And placed it in the believer’s heart.
How can you run a race
If you don’t even know where the race starts?
The starting line is now inside you
When you receive a brand new heart.
Your heart may be full of anger
Hate may keep you in the dark
Unforgiveness may keep you in chains
But come on, have a heart.
A heart of love is refreshing
Forgiveness is where you begin to start
To love life and living again
Come on, have a heart.
Some people are tired of living
Their feelings are hard and out of sort
They seem to be so discouraged and alone
Almost seems to have lost all heart.
Jesus is searching for the lost
So His love He can impart
His heart is in His mission
You might say, He’s all heart.
Some people are still empty inside
They haven't gotten off to a really good start
All hope seems to have vanished away
They seem to have lost all heart.
They don’t need a word of wisdom
Or a way to make a mark
A pat on the back just won’t do
What they need is a brand new heart.
Some people are so empty inside
Spiritual things to them seem hard to impart
If only they could find a Way
To mend and tend to their broken heart.
Some people think their life has ended
They feel their whole world is falling apart
If you need the heart to go on living
Ask Jesus for a brand new heart.
Some feel themselves and heaven
Are still so very far apart
They’ve tried to remake themselves over
But still end up losing all heart.
Some people really need a makeover
And some just need a brand new start
Some need a complete renovation
But we all need a brand new heart.
Jesus loves you so much
It was heartfelt from the start
He knows all about you
He loves you with all His heart.
Jesus gets to the heart of the matter
From you he will never depart
All you have to do is ask Him humbly
And Jesus will come into your heart.
Every day there is light
And every day there is also dark
And every day you get to choose
Whether you get a brand new heart.
Do you understand what you have
Do you get just what you’ve got?
You can have a part of heaven
When Jesus lives within your heart.
Some people give everything to Jesus
Some only give a little part
But if you want to go all the Way
Then give to Jesus your whole whole heart.
This may be your final chance
Your whole future you may unlock
When you open your heart to Jesus
And give Him your whole heart.
This may be your final choice
Time to put the horse before the cart
Time to get your ducks in a row
Time to receive a brand new heart.
One day you’ll be where Jesus is
And never again will you be apart
Two hearts can become as one
With Jesus living inside your heart.
This will do you a world of good
Your life will improve a lot
When the world asks what makes you different
Just say Jesus gave me a brand new heart.
I gave my heart to Jesus
His righteousness He did impart
I gave Him all the sin I had
And He gave to me a brand new heart.
Now I can say I’m brand new
God will finish what He determines to start
Now I can love with the love of God
Now I can love Him with my whole heart.
Jesus is the Lord of glory
No longer will you be apart
You can receive His forgiveness today
And also receive a brand new heart.
Jesus is the King of glory
And He wants you to have a part
He is reaching out to you
And offering you a brand new heart.
So treasure the things of heaven
Let the world keep all that it’s got
Remember, where your treasure is, Jesus said
There also will be your heart.
