Counterfeit
by Roger Montgomery

I found some money one time
But I didn't cash any of it
It didn't have the right feel
I knew it was counterfeit.

It looked pretty good
My eye couldn't spot the imperfections in it
But the paper just didn't feel right
And I knew it was counterfeit.

The money had been copied
But I knew something just didn't fit
I really had that feeling
I knew it was counterfeit.

Religions may seem to be OK
But after a little bit
You will get the feeling
That they're probably counterfeit.

Have you ever been deceived
Are you getting sick of it
Why not receive the real thing
And reject the counterfeit.

Jesus is the real thing
If you want the real thing, don't quit
He has spent Himself on you
There's nothing about Him counterfeit.

Don't take any wooden nickels
Don't be a con man's next hit
Come to Jesus and be free
Everything else is counterfeit.

Just start thinking it over
And after a little bit
You can tell the real thing
From the counterfeit.

You are believing something
Has it occurred to you yet
The real is the best deal
It's better than the counterfeit.

If you are going to work
This is one sure bet
Jesus will never let you down
Like one that is a counterfeit.

Everyone will have a payday
Don't take a rubber check
Jesus pays with His own blood
Everything else is counterfeit.
