Dead Giveaway

by Roger Montgomery Ó

Who is it that loves you
So much He hears you when you pray
If I told you His name
It would be a dead giveaway

God named Him from heaven
Centuries before He was born that day
If I told you His name
It would be a dead giveaway.

His name has attracted millions
More are coming everyday
If I told you His name
It would be a dead giveaway.

Shepherds came to see Him
But He was the Good Shepherd they say
People still flock to Him
Is this a dead giveaway?

The Bible doesn’t say to rejoice
And celebrate His birthday
But it teaches to remember His death
It’s like a dead giveaway.

He carried a tree with Him
At least part of a tree He had made
It pointed toward heaven and hell
Is this a dead giveaway?

His arms reached out in death
No one was excluded that day
He died with hands open wide
He was a dead giveaway.

God offered Him as a sacrifice
For the sins we had made
Everyone would rejoice in His death
Rejoice over a dead giveaway.

He was placed on a hill
And there He suffered and paid
All the debts the world owed to God
He was a dead giveaway.

He was given by God
We all remember that day
Justice was satisfied finally
With a dead giveaway.

God was giving to the world
The best He had for the creation He made
The present wasn’t wrapped too good
But He was a dead giveaway.

Blood covered this present
He was gone but He stayed
The hand of God’s judgement
As a dead giveaway.

But there was life in His death
Light came to the world on that day
Will it finally dawn on man
He was a dead giveaway.

He volunteered for His execution
While others ran away so afraid
He went to great pains to die
And become a dead giveaway.

The government tried Him by night
By a friend He was betrayed
If I mentioned His name even now
It would be a dead giveaway.

As He was dying
His own mother He gave that day
Millions know her by heart
It’s almost a dead giveaway.

God was making an exchange
Righteousness for the sins we had made
God accepted the sacrifice totally
It was a dead giveaway.

God accepts our sacrifices
But sometimes they have to be slayed
This was one offering He accepted
As a dead giveaway.

God accepted the sacrifice
Sent back His Spirit to us today
Saying here’s a part of me
Life for a dead giveaway.

We had a hand in His death
But do not be dismayed
Who else would love a sacrifice
A dead giveaway?

His death brought life to the world
Look at the sacrifice He made
His name is on many lips
That’s a dead giveaway.

Who would take your place and die
Who else could have paid
Who would be the perfect answer
A dead giveaway.

Some people try to ignore Him
Some forbid the mention of His name today
But in trouble they call on Him
It’s almost a dead giveaway.

I love to use His name
I use it when I pray
God remembers the name He has given
It’s almost a dead giveaway.

God gave the answer to the world
For lost sinners when they pray
Millions have discovered the answer
It’s a dead giveaway.

Well, I guess I had better go
Can you understand what I say?
I may give away the answer

It’s almost a dead giveaway.
