Depression
by Roger Montgomery

Doubt is a barrier that holds you back
Others can do what you seem to lack
It introduces you to fear and then
It goes out and brings discouragement in.

The devil is always coming at you
He doesn't have a lot of weapons he can use
But by filling your minds with some of these
Through persistence he wars effectively.

Fear is a fence that keeps you in
Outside is where you should have been
Discouragement leaves and then returns again
Depression is its next of kin.

Depression is a weight that holds you down
Makes you feel there's no hope around
It introduces you to it’s best friend
Hi there fear, come on in.

Depression is a robber that steals from you
Makes you feel bad and your family too
But before it forces its way in
Let me introduce you to some of my friends.

Hope is a friend that keeps us going
We rise above all the depressions ruins
We can keep going wherever we need
Because hope is friends with faith you see.

Faith is a conqueror that will scatter these
Takes control and sets us free
You look around and before too long
You'll realize that doubt is gone.

Faith attacks fear which in terror flees
Discouragement gets discouraged when it sees
You are getting ready with your life to move on
And before long, discouragement will be gone.

Depression doesn't have a plan
It's defeated when you take a stand
Soon depression will cease to be
When you keep company with friends like these.

Then you can invite love to come on in
Throw unforgiveness to the wind
Take back your life degree by degree
With the help of friends and family.

Then you will see happiness come in
Life will be worth living once again
Thank God you're in His family
Happy with friends such as these.
