Getting Rid Of
Jesus For Good
by Roger Montgomery
They took Jesus and put Him on a cross
Nailed Him to a cross of wood
They thought they were getting rid of Jesus
Getting rid of Him for good.
He was a pain to their religion
For righteousness He often stood
He only told the truth and healed the sick
And went about doing good.
But they couldn't take Him and His life
And for all for which He stood
So they dreamed up lies to destroy the truth
And finally got rid of Him for good.
Jesus, Jesus, we'll not bow to you
But the Bible says that they would
Like Joseph in the days of old
They couldn't get of Him for good.
One day He will return
But who has understood
He was dying for their sins
When they got rid of Him for good.
They got rid of Him for good
They got rid of Him for good
To get to heaven they never could
If they hadn't gotten rid of Him for good.
We think we can lock Jesus outside our hearts
Ignore Him and for what He stood
Escape to our private hideaways in vain
And get rid of Him for good.
But He will show up time and again
Even God can not ignore His blood
Flowing down from the cross to this earth
His life was given up for good.
If Abel's blood shouts from the ground
The Lamb of God's blood surely should
A Lamb without spot or blemish
Can't be washed away for good.
It will show up with us forever
Cleansing all those who would
Accept it as payment for their sins
Who accept it for good.
Place it on the door of your heart
Sins are only cleansed by blood
Bow before Jesus and God in heaven
And pray, Don't get rid of me for good.
We have proof of God's love
We can take Him at His Word
And then we will finally understand
Everything God does is for good.
They got rid of Him for good
They got rid of Him for good
To get to heaven they never could
If they hadn't gotten rid of Him for good.
