Good And Bad

The good thing about God
Seems the bad thing too
Good, He forgives me
Bad, He forgives you.

At least, that’s the way some people feel
That seems to be their mood
They want God to forget about their sins
But remember the things that you do.

They deserve to be forgiven
Because they aren’t like you
They’re really a good person
Except for the things that they do.

How can you face me, they say
After all the things that you do
I’m sure glad I’m me
And I’m not at all like you.

Jesus died for me, they agree
Of course He died for you too
I know why He died for me
I sometimes wonder why He died for you.

God loves to show mercy
And He shows His grace too
He can pour it out on me
Why should He bother with you?

Why doesn’t God listen to me
I wish I knew
I’m glad He forgives me
But I’m not so glad about you.

God likes to be fair
He has to be True
I know He accepts me
I wonder about you.

Jesus died for me
And He also died for you
God accepts all who come
And receives them all too.

Jesus died more for me
Than He did for you
I’m not sure it’s in the Bible
But I’m sure it must be true.

I wasn’t so hard to die for
It’s plainly true
I was worth it
But I’m not sure about you.

A tree is known by it’s fruit
A person is too
What kind of fruits are we growing
I think I’m more fruity than you.

Me, I guess I’m not really perfect
Might need improving in a thing or two
Might keep me from going to heaven
If God only knew.

Maybe I should show some mercy
Some things I may have to work through
One sin can keep me from heaven
To obtain mercy, what should I do?

If I don’t forgive, I won’t be forgiven
Sometimes that’s hard to do
But wouldn’t it make a world of difference
If everybody forgave you.

Sometimes we need a new start
So let us start anew
Someone has already set the example
He’s showed us what to do.

I guess the bad thing about God
Turns out to be the best thing too
He’ll forgive me of my sins
But He’ll also forgive you.

God, forgive me for being unfair
Maybe being mad at you
I guess it’s because you’re perfect
You do the things that you do.

It would be unfair if you forgave
Only those you wanted to
And took only the pretty to heaven
And have nothing with the ugly to do.

We all deserve to go to heaven
Though none of us deserves to
It’s because Jesus forgives us
And has paid for the sins that we do.

Friend, we must reap what we sow
This is not something brand new
I think I may need some mercy
So I think I’ll show some to you.

Hey, this thing really works well
Even for God’s chosen few
Now that I’ve forgiven, I’m forgiven
I feel all brand new.

Wonder what the next lesson is
I don’t seem to have a clue
Well, now I think I’m looking pretty good
But I’ve been meaning to talk to you.
