Hanging Around

What are you doing tomorrow
Have you any plans for the weekend
Are you going to just take it easy
Or maybe just hang around with all your friends?
Well, God knows where you’re coming from
He’s been just where you’ve been
He came down to earth one day
Just to hang out with His friend.
Adam, Adam, where are you, He called
Guess He’s gone again
I came down just to visit with Him
And hang out with my best friend.
It was many years later
He came back to earth again
He was coming down to visit with us
Coming to visit with His friends.
He came to earth on that day
And found no place in the inn
He didn’t get off to a good start
Hanging out with His friends.
And it didn’t get much better
From the start to the very end
He reached out His hands in love
Reached out to all His friends.
Finally it was time for Him to go
Time to be leaving again
So He went back to heaven
After visiting with His friends.
Where did you get those stripes on your back
And those scars in your hands
Oh, Father, I’ve been to earth below
I’ve been hanging around with all my friends.
Father, I came to love them
But somehow they didn’t understand
So I’m going to build them a home
A special one for all my friends.
Father, please forgive them
They just don’t seem to comprehend
These wounds don’t hurt very much
Because I got them in the house of my friends.
They just didn’t have room for me
It was such a small inn
So I’ll build a house big enough for everyone
So no one will ever be turned away again.
If I could just show them my love
They wouldn’t act that way again
I’m going back to earth very soon
And gather up all my friends.
I’m going to bring them here
And no one will ever suffer again
Father, I love them you know
Because they are all my friends.
He is waiting to come back to earth
And He will soon be coming again
His first visit was kind of cut short, you know
Hanging out with all His friends.
Jesus will be coming back soon
So to heaven He can welcome us in
He will show us what a friend really is
They say He’s the living end.
You don’t have to pack your belongings
He is waiting to take you in
All things are prepared just for you
Everyone who wants to be His friend.
You won’t have to check out this time
Although you may check out before checking in
He will never put you out or put you on
How’s that for a true, true friend?
Wouldn’t you like to go to heaven
To a place that’s free from sin
To have a million years or so
Just visit with all your friends.
Jesus came down to hang around
And when He met His final end
He was doing what He really came to do
Hanging out with all His friends.
And it makes me have cold chills
To think of what might have been
If Jesus had not come to earth
To chill out with all His friends.
Acquaintances may come and go
And some may not come back again
But friends will come to hang around
Hang out with all their friends.
Jesus has an eternal love
And The Word’s gone out to all men
And He’s shown us what real love is
Just hanging out with all His friends.
So, don’t tell anyone you’ve never been loved
Don’t ever make that statement again
Until you’ve looked at the Savior
Hanging out with all His friends.
