Himself He Couldn’t Save

Come down from the cross
And we will believe you today
He saved others by giving Himself
But Himself He couldn’t save.

So they took Him down from the cross
And put Him in a grave
He saved others by dying Himself
But Himself He couldn’t save.

He was under the judgment of God
To God He was a slave
He went to the cross and died for us
Himself He couldn’t save.

Jesus spent Himself giving
He gave and gave and gave
He gave away everything He had
But Himself He couldn’t save.

We could have died and gone to hell
But how could we sing His praise
He was dying to save us
But Himself He couldn’t save.

Were these people prophesying?
Not knowing the road He would pave
He was building a street strait to heaven
But Himself He couldn’t save.

The people mocked and laughed at Him
They passed by and mocked and waved
Come down if you’re the Son of God
But Himself He couldn’t save.

No, He was giving His life for you
Hope you start to believe today
Understand why He chose to die
And why Himself He couldn’t save.

It was either you or Him
Justice said someone had to pay
Father, forgive them was His prayer
Himself He couldn’t save.

Jesus made a choice
Maybe we should pray
He died for everyone else
But Himself He couldn’t save.

What have you chosen in life?
The question is almost grave
When it came down to you or Him
Himself He couldn’t save.

And you’re the one He chose
For you His blood He freely gave
Jesus chose between Himself and you
Himself He couldn’t save.

God loved His only Son
And for our sins He freely gave
God could save the whole world
But His own Son He couldn’t save.

God loved you so much
On the cross His heart He gave
His heart was breaking for you
So Himself He couldn’t save.

Now if you love what He did
You should learn how to behave
Show Him you appreciate the fact
Himself He couldn’t save.

He had never sinned Himself
So three days later He was raised
Even though He didn’t need salvation
Himself He couldn’t save.

It's you or your baby
The doctor told the mother so brave
She gave life while giving her life
Herself she couldn’t save.

Everyone looked on in horror
As the soldier jumped on the hand grenade
He gave his life for his brothers
But himself He couldn’t save.

The man jumped into the river
He saved three from a watery grave
The forth trip he went under
Himself He couldn’t save.

Wonder if I would die for someone else
Wonder if I could be that brave
Could they say that of me
Himself He couldn’t save.

We all usually want to live
Life we all seem to naturally crave
Will we live for others until they say
Himself He couldn’t save.

Jesus came down from heaven
So that you could receive today
The salvation He was dying to give
But Himself He couldn’t save.

We can’t understand such love
Or Someone who was so brave
He gave His precious blood for us
But Himself He couldn’t save.

God has held nothing back
His only son He freely gave
What great love Jesus has shown
That Himself He couldn’t save.

Have you chosen His death?
It’s either yes or nay
Was His death worth the fact
Himself He couldn’t save.

You choose your life
Or His life when you pray
He chose you over Himself
Himself He couldn’t save.

Will you choose Jesus over yourself?
Lift your hands in praise
He is the only Way to heaven
Because yourself you can not save.
