He Said Yes

a Poem by Roger Montgomery

He said yes
He said yes
Without hesitation
He said yes.

When I asked for grace
And a chance for happiness
Without reservation
He said yes.

When we’re out in this world
And our life is in a mess
We don’t know where to turn
Or who to call on in our distress.

Just remember what God said
And it is sure to bless
Before we even asked
God said yes.

Before we called on Jesus
Or knew enough to confess
Or realized how short we had fallen
Jesus said yes.

While they were crucifying Him
Trying their best to protest
Without their even asking
Jesus said yes.

Father, forgive them
In their world of selfishness
God heard His Son that day
And God said yes.

When you were a baby
Just lying in a mess
While the world held their noses
Your mommy said yes.

She hugged you real tightly
And held you to her breast
When the world wanted no part of you
Your mommy said yes.

Before you could say I’m hungry
Or kiss an empty dish
Your daddy went to work
And He said yes.

So why don’t you practice love
With such an example as this
Become more like God today
And just say yes.

You were designed by God Himself
And worth more than this whole worlds’ mess
Go out and get a new perspective
And just say yes.

You’re made in God’s image
Why not start afresh
When someone asks what God is like
Just say yes.

He said yes
He said yes
Without hesitation
He said yes.

When I asked for grace
And a chance for happiness
Without reservation
He said yes.
