His Party

We wrap our Christmas presents
On which we spend our pay
And hope they are received in love
As we give them all away.
We are getting ready
Soon it will be Christmas day
Our excitement grows and grows and grows
As we give our presents away.
But whose birthday do we celebrate
And worship on that day
He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
He is the Living Way.
Has He been invited to His party
Or will He be turned away
Will He be welcomed by everyone
Maybe be welcomed on His day?
We give His presents to others
What more is there to say
Strange birthday party it would seem
But it's always been that way.
Whose birthday do we celebrate
As we celebrate Christmas anyway
Will we be invited to His party
When He celebrates it some day?
But He probably doesn't mind
The presents we give on that day
He spent His life giving to others
He's always giving away.
He taught us by His example
He gives come what may
He taught us to give by giving Himself
He is the Living Way.
