Least That I Could Do
by Roger Montgomery

My wife was carrying the trash out
But I think she really wanted me to
It was really making me feel, oh, so bad
But in her heart, I think she knew.

So I held the door open
And waited until she went through
I told her to be real careful
It was the least that I could do.

My neighbor’s car was broken down
He was going for a job interview
So I hurried and called him a cab
It was the least that I could do.

My neighbor was feeling depressed
No wonder, with all that his family was going through
So I went and told him some funny jokes
It was the least that I could do.

I’m always one ready to help
Guess it’s my nature to
I am quick to give free advice
It’s the least that I can do.

I make a difference wherever I go
You can make a difference too
I try to get other people involved
It's the least that I can do.

Why don't you get involved
There's so much work still left for me and you
I've been telling so many people about the problems
It's the least that I can do.

This world is such a big place
So much is depending on me and you
I sure plan on making a difference myself
It's the least that I can do.

Great thinkers are so hard to find
Great planners are now long overdue
I will be glad to offer some great suggestions
Why, it's the least that I can do.

If you need some help planning
Think of me, please, won't you
I'll be glad to offer some encouragement
Why, it's the least that I can do.

What you sow, you must reap
The harvest is great, the laborers are few
I've been thinking of helping God out
It's the least that I can do.

It's amazing God hasn't called on me sooner
This world is waiting for you know who
I don't want to brag, but it's obvious that I should
Why, it's the least that I can do.

My life is passing by so very fast
When you stay busy, it's bound too
My plans are finished, but not complete
But it's the least that I can do.

When they finally lay me down to rest
On my tombstone, say, who would have ever knew
He could finally have bettered himself
Now, that really is the least that he could do.
