The Shepherds
by Roger Montgomery

I wonder what the shepherds thought
As they stood there in the night
As they heard the angels sing
Did they really see the Light?

Why did God choose these shepherds
To tell of His Holy Son’s birth?
The Lamb of God is born tonight
Let rejoicing fill the earth.

Let rejoicing fill the earth
Let rejoicing fill the earth
There was a child born so important
That the angels proclaimed His birth.

God must have loved His shepherds
As they watched into the night
With all of Israel waiting
Only a few ever saw the Light.

So it will be this very season
Rejoicing will fill the earth
Millions will celebrate Christmas
But only a few, the Savior’s birth.

So let rejoicing fill the earth
Let rejoicing fill the earth
There was a child born so important
That the angels proclaimed His birth.

Wise men would come to see Him
Bringing gifts of such worth
Millions more would also come
His kingdom would fill the earth.

Today you can celebrate Him
Who else is there to serve
He is King of Kings and Lord of Lords
Rejoice now in His birth.

Let rejoicing fill the earth
Let rejoicing fill the earth
There was a child born so important
That the angels proclaimed His birth.

There was a child born so important
That the angels proclaimed His birth.
