Little Nut
by Roger Montgomery

Hey Little Nut
Where are you?
Oh, there you are.

Hey Little Nut
Lying there on the ground
You were once high and lifted up
But now you’re fallen down.

Yes, I was born by the Wind
My life was in the Tree
Now we are separated, but
Don’t feel sorry for me.

Look at those leaves
They’ve nearly all turned to brown
Fall is coming on
They’ve fallen to the ground.

Yet, each one was numbered
They were a part of the Tree
When they’re gone, it looks bare
But it’s not as it appears to be.

See, the Sun is still shining
But it seems dimmer in the fall
It still shines forth it’s message though
Can’t you hear it’s Call.

Little Nut

See that tree over there
It was once a nut like me
But it also had to die
Before it became a tree.

It was buried, but not forgotten
It had decayed in the ground
But the next spring the Sun came out
Nothing could hold it down.

I hear a voice calling
Can’t you hear the sound
It’s a still small voice
I can almost hear it now.

There it is

Hey Little Nut, I’m calling to you
My Light will show the Way
I will warm you by my Love
I Am calling you from the grave.

So maybe you think I can die
But that can never be
I will only sleep awhile
I will live eternally.

Hey,
See me
Here I come
I’m the Little Nut
Now I’m a tree.
