Promised Land
by Roger Montgomery

Israel left the land of Egypt
Crossing over the barren land
They knew where they were headed
To the promised land.

The sun was hot and punishing
There was a world of sand
Sometimes there is a desert
Before the promised land.

There is a promised land
There is a promised land
Built upon a Rock, not upon sand
You're going in the right direction
With God holding you in His hand
This world is no place to stop
There is a promised land.

Jesus was their cloud by day
Their shade in a dry land
He was their Light in the night
He was their Guiding Hand.

He was a Spring in their desert
To quench their thirst again
He is still the Water of Life
He still owns the promised land.

There is a promised land
There is a promised land
Built upon a Rock, not upon sand
You're going in the right direction
With God holding you in His hand
This world is no place to stop
There is a promised land.

Now some didn't make it
They complained and complained
When you're in the desert
It may not look like rain.

But God knows where you're at
And He has a greater plan
Just follow Him until you get
To the promised land.

There is a promised land
There is a promised land
Built upon a Rock, not upon sand
Just go in the right direction
Guided by God's hand
Don't give up until you’re safe within
The promised land.

God hasn't deserted you
And He never can
He loves you so much
He calls you His friend.

Start looking for His signs
And you'll never be alone again
Don't look down at the desert
Just look up to the promised land.

There is a promised land
There is a promised land
Built upon a Rock, not upon sand
Jesus has provided directions
And He's seated at God's right hand
He's looking things over from on high
And He’s promised us a promised land.
