Someone Who Knows

People wonder about pain and sorrow
As down the path of life they go
They wonder if anyone really cares
Or does anyone really know.

Can they make it through another day
Carrying such a heavy load
You know, it would help so much
If someone could really know.

There must be someone who understands
If they just knew where to go
Someone whose been there just like them
Someone who really knows.

But they are not alone
Someone cares for their soul
You know, it’s written in the Bible
There is Someone who really knows.

As they go through life wondering
Does God realize they’ve suffered so
You know, God once turned His face from His only Son
Ask Someone who knows.

Jesus suffered on a cross
And He felt His blood start to flow
If you think you’ve seen such pain
Then ask Someone who knows.

You know, Jesus can identify with you
As the world treats you so
Why, He’s sat where you’re now sitting
So ask Someone who should know.

Are you ashamed of your life
Are you ashamed of no pretty clothes
Well, Jesus was born in a stable
Ask Someone who knows.

Have you ever been misunderstood
When you tried to help some poor soul
Jesus was rejected by humanity
Ask Someone who knows.

Were you born in a stable
And wrapped in swaddling clothes
Have you slept among any animals
Well, ask Someone who knows.

You’re in so much pain
It follows you wherever you go
But they drove nails in Jesus hands
So ask Someone who really knows.

No job to buy your food
Your time on others bestowed
Have you been stabbed in the back
Just ask Someone who knows.

Have you been sold out by a friend

Why, Jesus was betrayed by a close friend

The price of a slave was the price of Jesus
Or so the story goes
What is your soul really worth?

He’s paid the price to redeem you
Watch Him in death’s dark hold
Watch Him bleed great drops of blood
Then ask Someone who knows.

Have you been hungry and all alone
And your stomach seemed to hurt you so
Jesus was forty days without any food at all
Would you like to ask Someone who really knows?

Have you ever been thirsty
And dreamed of a spring’s peaceful flow
Jesus said I thirst while He was on the cross
So ask Someone who knows.

Have you ever been homeless
Nowhere at night to go
Jesus had nowhere to lay His head
Ask Someone who seems to know.

Have thieves taken your money away
Have you been struck a careless blow
Jesus was beaten thirty-nine stripes with a whip
Ask Someone who knows.

Have you been tired from working
And have your muscles ever ached so
Jesus fell beneath His cross
Ask Someone who knows.

Jesus was forsaken for our sins
Suffering from all of life’s blows
The innocent died for the guilty
Ask Someone who really knows.

Jesus knows what you’ve been going through
The Bible says that it is so
Maybe you need someone who’s been there too
So you can ask Someone who really knows.

Have you ever hitchhiked before
Bummed a ride wherever you’d go
Jesus walked most places that He went
Ask Someone who knows.

Have you ever been pregnant and no one cared
Been forsaken with no place to go
All men forsook Jesus at the cross
So ask Someone who knows.

Have you been laughed at
Been ashamed of all your clothes
Jesus was stripped naked on the cross

Have you ever suffered for what others did
And been treated oh so cold
Jesus was suffering for what others did

Ever stuck a thorn in your hands
Do you remember how the pain hurt you so
Jesus was crowned with a crown of thorns

Ever been forsaken by those you loved
People you loved so
Well, Jesus was forsaken and left alone

Ever felt pain and heartache

Jesus has been where you are
From the cross His blood did flow
God has forgotten all our sins

Jesus could not forget you
Or how you are hurting so
He has gone farther than you ever could

Jesus’ beard was pulled from His face
Down His back His blood did flow
Want to talk to Someone about pain

Have you ever been really hungry
Have you ever been really cold
Have you ever sat down and wondered
Does anyone really know?

Have you laid upon the ground
And the rocks seemed to hurt so
Well, Jesus was also knocked to the ground
Ask Someone who knows.

Has someone died that you loved
And the pain just seems to grow and grow
Well, Jesus cried when His friend Lazarus died
Ask Someone who knows.

Turn your sorrows over to Jesus
For one day your life too will close
Jesus tasted death all by Himself
Ask Someone who knows.

He will show you great mercy
Among the thorns there is a rose
He learned about us by suffering Himself
So you could ask Someone who really knows.

So lift your head up high
And don’t worry when the cold wind blows
There is Someone who overcame death
Ask Someone who knows.

And He is thinking great thoughts for you
In His death your future He holds
He knows every hair on your head
Ask Someone who knows.

Your loved ones are in His hands
And He really loves you so
You are the apple of His eye
Ask Someone who knows.

So there is a reason to go on
You have a precious, precious soul
There is Someone who died for you
So ask Someone who knows.
