Gone

The little boy looked up
A sparkle in his eyes of blue
And said, Here comes my daddy home
Hi Daddy, I love you.

The father patted his little head
What’s my big boy been up to?
I’ve been eating the food Mommy fixed, Daddy
So I can grow up to be just like you.

I’ve played and been good today
I’ve done the things you told me to
I want to do the things you say
Because Daddy, I love you.

Mommy says you work so hard
It’s hard to do the things you do
Daddy, when I grow up
I want to be just like you.

Are you going out tonight?
Mommy says she doesn’t want you to
Mommy says when you’re away
She wishes she could be with you.

Daddy, when you get some time
Is there something we can do?
Can we go fishing, please?
Because Daddy, I love you.

Daddy, do you love me?
I know you really do
You've told me so many times
And I sure love you.

Well, bye Daddy, come back soon
I'll be waiting until you do
I can't wait until you get back home
I feel so good when I'm with you.

Mommy, Daddy's gone again
You must miss him too
Is that why you're crying?
What did he mean when he said we're through?
