Graduation
by Roger Montgomery Ó
Sometimes we can hardly wait
Until the time to graduate
Then the things we so much anticipate
Bring joy and sadness as we integrate
Our minds and souls and spirits and fate
Recollections with a hint of love and hate
A sadness bids us to wait
Will we will ever see our classmates
Will friendships end on this date
So we need to stop and contemplate
What will be our future state
Hoping our dreams don't disintegrate
The future moves on, should we wait
Think long or even procrastinate
Wondering about what will be our ultimate fate
Like a calf standing at a new gate
Will we be able to concentrate
Knowing education is a door to a future state
You have good cause to celebrate
So I would like to congratulate
You've arrived at your destination, Mate
So celebrate, celebrate, celebrate
